A festive unfolding through Soho London: Theatre, lights and Atelier Coupette.

London is abuzz with the festive season and the streets of Soho are abuzz with Christmas spirit. Bright lights and theatrical productions are what make Soho a one stop for your holiday festivities. The soul of this magical adventure is Atelier Coupette, a French restaurant that seeks to provide Michelin level experience through nouvelle cuisine, French tapas and amazing cocktails, the ideal partner to your day out in Soho.

The festive lights of Soho

It feels like Christmas walking on the streets of Soho. For the best glimpses of the Christmas lights begin in Carnaby Street, a 3-minute walk from Atelier Coupette, with this year’s theme - Into the Light, it is a showcase of more than 60,000 flickering LED lights. The sparkling show celebrates the art and soul of Soho, setting the tone for your Christmas wandering. The flickering light make Carnaby Street come alive and its iconic archway lights up the way for an unforgettable holiday stroll.

From there we recommend you to walk to Regent Street (around 10 minutes’ walk from Atelier Coupette), where giant illuminated angels fly above the main alleys and bathe the shopping street in their golden shimmer. This is all made by installing these giant lights lengthwise lining Regent Street. These installations are reminiscent of old-school London Christmases and are a great way to stop, look around and absorb the festive grandeur.

The next destination on your list needs to be the Oxford Street, where thousands of twinkling lights illuminate one of London’s busiest shopping centres. As you walk under the illuminating light curtains, you’ll find yourself in festive cheer, with the sounds of the performers on the street and the hustle of holiday shoppers adding to the vibrant holiday spirit.

Close by to Atelier Coupette, Seven Dials is transformed into a Christmas wonderland of lights and holiday-lit storefronts. It’s a small, intimate place, perfect for a good romantic walk at night or just a walk around enjoying the Christmas season. A little more magic, too, Leicester Square, where you have your own Christmas market surrounded by chocolates, mulled wine and artisan stalls. The twinkling lights and the beautiful decorations of the square provide the perfect backdrop for a warm and lively holiday experience.

As you wrap your senses amongst these attractions, you will see street musicians, you will hear carolers, you will smell roasted chestnuts and you will have a rejuvenating holiday spirit. It’s like Christmas with all the classics playing and everybody appreciating how mesmerising it was. If you want to experience Christmas in all its grandeur, Soho is the place to come for an awesome Christmas.

The theatrical heartbeat of Soho

Soho also has some of London’s finest theatres, where the plays, musicals and pantomimes are as eclectic as they come, all a stone’s throw from Atelier Coupette. From heart-pounding dramas to funny pantomimes, Soho’s theatre scene has something for everyone this holiday season.

A Christmas Carol (ish) @sohoplace — This is a humorous all-singing and dancing adaptation of Dickens’ tale starring Nick Mohammed as Mr. Swallow. It’s a fresh, comic version of the story, and an ideal way to get you in the mood for the holidays with a laugh.

At the Lyric Theatre, magic comes alive with Hadestown Anas Mitchell’s folk opera about the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. This mash-up of songs and narratives is sure to please and be a dynamic, heartfelt musical piece of theatre.

At Sadler’s Wells, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, a forceful take on the ballet, with an all-male corps de ballet and incredible choreography, is re-imagined. It is one of the most heartwarming, creative dance shows on the planet and ballet fans cannot be a part of this production.

Robin Hood at The London Palladium presents the fabled hero Robin Hood in a vibrant pantomime with Julian Clary, entertaining and exciting children of all ages. The musical production is a laugh riot, filled with songs and oversized characters; this makes it a wonderful family holiday experience.

Aladdin at Lyric Hammersmith, is a comic and magical pantomime which brings the story of Aladdin and his magical genie to life. The costumes are amazing, the set is adorned with beautiful props and is extremely humorous. This show is both nostalgic and full of festive cheer.

Other shows you should try out are Mrs Doubtfire at Shaftesbury Theatre, a delightful musical version of the classic and The Devil Wears Prada at Dominion Theatre another movie rendition, which offers chic entertainment and an insider’s view into fashion. Both of these shows are hilarious, melodious and glamorous – they’re great for a fun festive night out.

No festive excursion would be complete without seeing The Nutcracker at London Coliseum where the English National Ballet performs Tchaikovsky’s lilting musical masterpiece with glorious animation and exquisite choreography. Or, if you prefer something a little sexier, All I Want For Christmas Is Cabaret at The Phoenix Arts Club brings sparkle, thrills, and snotty good times to your night. So if you’re looking for a laugh, drama, or holiday feel, Soho’s theatres are the place to go to ensure that your night goes out with a bang.
